So get ready to say goodbye to mindless right or left swiping based solely on profile pictures or job titles, and meaningless conversations that go nowhere.
Say hello to Unveil.
Meet Unveil: a more meaningful app
Unveil is an app that enables people to engage in meaningful conversation with the goal of creating lasting connections. Unveil is an app that enables you to unveil your true self, hence its name.
For those of you that are single and use dating apps, you know it can be difficult to create meaningful connections. Often we swipe left or right based upon superficial notions, mostly the way someone else looks at first glance. Or other times, the schools they've attended or the jobs they've held.
While physical attraction is undoubtedly an important element to sparking connection, can't we all agree that true, lasting attraction between two individuals is much more than skin deep? And oftentimes unrelated to the "things that person does?" What really draws us to someone is the person they are at their core, and how well that person aligns with who we are at our core. The only way to really get to know who someone is - beyond what they look like or what they do - is by engaging in meaningful conversations with that person.
Why was Unveil founded?
For those of you that are avid Instagram users, you might have heard of and/or followed the account @conversations101, recently rebranded to @unveilapp upon the app's launch. I was personally moved when I stumbled across this account, as it asked meaningful questions that sparked interesting and engaging online conversation, like "If you had the power to make one change in the world, what would it be?"
The Unveil team noticed that the majority of people that benefit from datings app are those with the most attractive profile pictures, while the people that don't look as good don't receive as many messages. This is what inspired the Unveil team to initially blur the photos, revealing less blurred photos only as deeper conversation unravels.
The Unveil team , like nearly all of us, have experienced their own share of heartache in the dating and relationship space. Their mission became to create a more meaningful and less superficial means of connecting people globally.
Here's a little sneak peak of Unveil's features:
With Unveil, you set up your profile according to what seems to be the norm amongst dating apps: you choose a profile picture to upload, and then pick a username (which doesn't have to be your actual name. In fact, it's encouraged it's not so that people don't "Google" you and search for a pic.) In the next step, which is a bit different from other dating apps' protocol, Unveil asks you to record a voice message introducing yourself. In this message, you can state who you are, what you're interested in, and anything else that you believe makes you unique. Why voice? As Founder, Jonathan Truong, explains, "We believe that voice is a key feature of someone's identity. It's a part of what makes them unique"
What makes Unveil different?
But here's the biggest differentiator between Unveil and other dating or connection apps out there. The app automatically blurs out your photo upon uploading it! And I mean really blurs it out; you can only see a faint outline of yourself initially! So how does the person you decide to communicate with see what you look like? Only through multiple back and forth meaningful conversations via voice recording. So the more you talk - not text - the more that is unveiled.
Want to start making meaningful connections?
Are you ready to make more meaningful connections online? Since your identity on Unveil is anonymous, you really have nothing to lose.
I think we can all agree that It's time to level the playing field in the online dating game. It's time to let your true self shine, and meet someone based on who you are, authentically.
Download Unveil for free today and unveil yourself to people that actually care about who you are - beyond your exterior.
