Wake up Early
Waking up a few minutes earlier than you need to means you'll have plenty of time to get ready without rushing around. A peaceful morning will set you up for a great day.
A morning meditation doesn't have to be lengthy to be beneficial. Meditating for just five minutes get your breath moving, your blood flowing and helps prepare your mind for the day ahead. Sit on the edge of your bed or in a chair, with your feet flat on the floor and your hands in your lap, palms facing upward. Close your eyes, and take a deep breath in through your nose. When you've inhaled the most you can, hold your breath for a second or two, before breathing our through your mouth, simultaneously releasing all tension from your body. Do this 3-5 more times, or as long as you need to, to feel calm and energized.
Drink Hot Water with Lemon
Drinking a glass of hot water with lemon in the morning (even before your coffee or tea) has so many health benefits, including jumpstarting your metabolism and detoxifying your body. It's a simple, delicious way to flush out toxins and feel refreshed. Simply heat a cup of water, as you would for tea, and squeeze in the juice of half a lemon.
Eat a Balanced Breakfast
You've heard this one countless times before, but it's so important. Eating processed carbs and sugar first thing in the morning is a guaranteed recipe for a low energy day. Instead, fuel your body with a mixture of healthy carbs and protein that will give you the high energy you need to feel your best throughout the day. A great, balanced breakfast option is overnight oatmeal. The combination of oats and yogurt is healthy, protein-packed and delicious.
Visualize the day ahead. Think of it this way -- you wouldn't get in the car without knowing where you are going. Visualization is similar; you're creating a road map for the day ahead. Make a to-do list for yourself - what would you like to accomplish by the end of the day today? Go over your schedule, as well, and prepare yourself for each task ahead. This way, you can leave the house feeling calm and confident - knowing you have the tools and mindset you need for a happy and successful day.
